Autocontrol Works!
The autocontrol II is working very well. Managed to get a few hours long test flight in and the entire assembly performed nearly to specification the entire flight. There are still a few tweaks that should be performed:
- the ailerons less to the left than to the right in turn knob controlled turns
- the trim between the heading lock and wing leveler is about 5 degrees off
The manual states that the first issue is almost certainly a mechanical adjustment to the servo that is slightly off. This is somewhat simple to correct. The second is a bit more complex. The feel of the trim capacitors when adjusted by screwdriver is quite sensitive. I am wondering if there is something getting a bit worn in there.
Flying with the autopilot tracking a heading makes searching for charts and frequencies so much easier. Looking forward to this summer's flying season.
