Birch Hills CJD3

Flew out to Birch Hills last Saturday and had a look at the airfield.  Strangely nice day for October.  Very nice well kept airport and had a cup of coffee sitting in the sun with a local hangar owner while we watch the glider club warm up their winch.

Flew around the river for a bit and then returned to Saskatoon to practice the VOR/DME 33 approach under the hood.  Got it right this time and was very happy about it.  Set up the GPS to show the distance  to the beacon and was very careful about starting the descent promptly, maintaining 90 knots groundspeed, and maintaining the descent rate.  Worked out very well this time.

No replacement for hood time except actual IMC but ever since I started getting diligent about it the actual IMC I get is much more relaxing.
